The Best Beaches of Kauai

The beaches of Kauai are one of the best kept secrets on all of the hawaiian islands.  The north shore of Kauai is spectacular and you will be spoiled for choice when picking a beach for the day.  We have summarized a hand full of our most favorite and kid friendly beaches. You will not want to miss any one of the spots on the list below so grab the sand toys, chairs, cooler and umbrella out of the garage and get packing!

Anini Beach

If you want a classic hawaiian beach experience without the crowd then Anini is for you. Miles and miles of beach await so pick a spot anywhere along the scenic road that meanders the beach. Children often love the rocky areas on this generally calm stretch of beach.

Tunnels Beach

If snorkeling is your passion then tunnels beach is an absolute must.  Parking is very limited at this beach so there's never a crowd. This beach is sheltered and is calm for small children most of the year.

Hideaway Beach

Hideaway beach is recommended for those with older children due to the steep hike.  This beach is super exclusive due to its hidden location and very limited parking. Its small, peaceful, and home to some of the cutest flocks of chicken families you will find on the island.

Hanalei Bay Beach

Not to be missed, Hanalei Beach, is a must do for any visitor to the island. This beach is very exposed with little shade so make sure you have an umbrella. Active? Rent a stand up paddle board, kayak or take a surfing lesson here.

Ke'e Beach

The best kid friendly beach, Ke'e, is located in Hanea near the start of the Na Pali Coast Trail. This sheltered swimming area has a lifeguard on duty.  Due to the location near the famous Na Pali Coast Trail we recommend you either take the shuttle or arrive early as parking is limited.

Queen's Bath

The Queen's Bath, can be classified as a swimming hole that is a miracle of nature.  The hike down to the Queen's Bath can be a bit challenging so small children are not recommended.
